Mother Modern Plumbing Featured on CBS DFW

When the deep freeze hit North Texas this February, thousands of homeowners woke up to the nightmare of frozen and burst pipes. More calls came in than ever, but Mother was out in the field, doing what we do best—helping people without the BS.

CBS DFW took notice. They featured us in a segment covering the storm’s impact, highlighting how our team hustled to take care of as many homeowners as possible.

"We knew people were in crisis," said Steven Smith, Mother’s responsible master plumber. "It wasn’t about making a quick buck—it was about showing up, doing the job right, and making sure families weren’t left high and dry… or worse, with water pouring through their ceiling."

Plumbing Emergencies Everywhere

As temperatures plummeted, we saw a 248% spike in emergency calls. Homeowners were dealing with everything from frozen pipes to full-on waterfalls in their living rooms. Some had been waiting days for a plumber, while others were quoted sky-high prices just to get on a waitlist.

We don’t roll like that. No fine print. No price-gouging. No nonsense.

We dispatched all our incredible plumbers, working long hours to make sure as many homes as possible were taken care of. We even helped homeowners over the phone, walking them through shutting off their water and minimizing damage while they waited for a plumber to arrive.

Keeping Pipes From Freezing

CBS DFW’s segment showed what we’re all about—being the company people can actually trust. No shady pricing. No bait-and-switch tactics. Just real, professional plumbing work done by a team that actually gives a damn.

On air, we also shared some simple ways to prevent frozen pipes in the first place, like:

  • Wrapping exposed pipes before a freeze hits
  • Letting faucets drip to keep water moving
  • Knowing where your shut-off valve is (trust us, this one’s important)
  • Getting a pre-winter plumbing check-up to catch issues before they turn into disasters

Because here’s the thing: we’d rather help you avoid a plumbing emergency altogether than have you scrambling for a plumber in the middle of a storm.

Looking Ahead

This freeze was bad, but it won’t be the last one. North Texas has seen brutal winter storms before, and we’ll see them again. When that happens, Mother Modern Plumbing will be ready to help—just like always.
