Jerry was fantastic both times he came to our home. He kept us informed, and was constantly at work. He was professional in every manner. We had a big project and other companies sent men out to look at the job. Jerry immediately grabbed a shovel and started working, even knowing he was at risk of not earning anything doing so. WOW. Mother Plumbing gave us the best treatment in the office as well. Matthew is very good to deal with. Pleasant and professional. I’m very hard to please, and these guys did the job!

We thought we had a main water leak from the street to the house and due to the thoroughness of the technician we found out it was only a sprinkler system issue. Josh was awesome in explaining everything and so thorough in his investigation we couldn't be happier with him and the outcome. Although we didn't need the repairs from them I would highly recommend Mother Modern Plumbing. A breath of fresh air with honesty and integrity!

We recently used Mother Modern Plumbing for a yard sewer repair and we were very impressed with their professionalism, efficiency and fair prices. Steven arrived on time, clearly explained the issue and provided me an estimate. The job was completed on one day, it required lots of digging and the weather was cold about 34. This was our first time using them but it won’t be the last.

Chris was extremely personable and professional, and did not make me feel bad about knowing next to nothing about plumbing or how to describe exactly what our issues were. He kept me informed every step of the way as to what he was doing and what he discovered while investigating. We were more than pleased and will definitely call Mother for any future plumbing needs.

A plumber in Fort Worth stands smiling in a city plaza, wearing a navy blue shirt with "Jerry Journeyman" and "Mother" embroidered on it, with historic downtown Fort Worth buildings and a mural in the background.

Wet spots in your yard that won’t dry, puddles near the foundation, and surprising water bill increases- you’ve got an underground leak, and you need to find it yesterday. You need modern yard leak location solutions, without excavation or digging up your lawn and landscaping.

Requests for residential yard leak detection in Fort Worth have increased over the last 3 years, as more homeowners learn about the value proposition of catching a small underground water leak before it becomes a bigger issue.

Let’s find that leak now- no digging! Call us 24/7- we’re always here to answer your call. Priority scheduling means you get the first available appointment!

Do You Have an Underground Water Leak in Your Yard?

It can be difficult to tell the difference between an outdoor pipe leak and flooding due to heavy rains. Tarrant County homeowners who experience leaks in March and April often mistake them for flooding and delay calling a plumber — this allows the pipe damage to get worse.

Here’s what to do if you suspect a yard leak in your Fort Worth property:

Step 1: Check your water meter

If you think you have a pipe leak, the first thing to do is turn off all water sources in your home. This will allow you to accurately read your water meter.

Next, go to your water meter. It’s usually located outside your home near the street. It’s housed within a small plastic or metal box (which may be underground). Look for a lid marked with the word “WATER” or “METER”.

Open the lid, and look for a dial or digital display. If you have a dial, there shouldn’t be any movement with the water turned off. If you have a digital display, the water usage rate should be static.

If your dial is moving or your water usage is increasing, you probably have a water leak.

Step 2: Know the difference between leaks and flooding

Here are 3 ways to tell the difference between a flooded yard and a possible underground pipe leak:

  1. Rate of onset. Signs of an underground water leak develop slowly and get worse over time. A flooded yard due to heavy rains happens quickly and then dissipates.
  2. Size of impact. Heavy rains cause widespread impact, creating soggy soil and large puddles. Pipe leaks have more localized impact — look for small green patches, small puddles and cracks in your driveway.
  3. Check your water bill. If you still aren’t sure, check your next water bill. A flooding event won’t affect your utility costs — a hidden pipe leak certainly will.

Step 3: Know the 10 telltale signs of an underground leak

These are 10 telltale signs of an underground pipe leak in your yard:

  1. Fast-moving water meter
  2. Increased water bill
  3. Decreased indoor water pressure
  4. Wet spots in your lawn
  5. Unusually green lawn spaces
  6. Flooding around sprinkler heads
  7. Cracked pavement or driveway
  8. Sewage smell in your yard
  9. Foundation cracks
  10. Dirt in your indoor water supply
